Palm Springs CA Open house from 11am to 2pm Sunday April 19th

2218 Savanna Way Four Seasons Palm Springs CA

Four Seasons in Palm Springs is a gated active adult community built by award winning builder K. Hovnanian.  Once you see one of these homes it is easy to see why there would be an award.

Thoughtful floor plans (see it below) solid upgrades, well built homes.  Generously sized, this home is no exception with 2,023 square feet.  My favorite part is the totally private and separated master suite with dual walk in closets!

Best of all the community is truly a community with an active vibrant club house with many amenities and activities offered year round.  Due to the somewhat seasonal nature of our area sometimes, buyers can be disappointed to find that their "clubhouse" is that in name only. Not so at Four Seasons.  Don't hesitate to check out all the sport courts, pool, spa, fitness and social activities

Happy Easter!

Happy easter c

Happy Easter!

Researching the History of the Holiday you will find many references to springtime, crops being planted, fertility and seasons changing. Whatever your beliefs or traditions we wish you all the best and offer the following as some interesting trivia and facts:

Make  your own natural Easter Egg dyes with this informative site.

Have you ever wondered  why Easter falls on a different date every year?  It is because Easter falls on the first Sunday after the full Moon after the Vernal Equinox.

The tradition of Easter Baskets is said to have started in Germany where the Easter Bunny was called Osterhase and was known to deliver treats to children who would build nests to receive them.

For ancient Egyptians the rabbit was a symbol of the moon so a full moon being used to determine the date of the holiday may have had an influence. A hare was a totemic animal of the goddess Eostre, which symbolized fertility for Spring. Knowing how Rabbits breed it would be easy to see how that legend got started!

Easter Around the world:

Sweden, Easter is celebrated with meals of eggs, herring, and Jansson's Temptation (potato, onion and pickled sardines baked in cream).

Bermuda, people  celebrate Good Friday by flying home-made kites, eating codfish cakes, and eating hot cross buns

and lastly we leave you with some humor!

Chocolate tip:  "If you get melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly."

Not a fun topic for most of us but we thought we would try to give you a laugh and some good advice at the same time. We have compiled some links here that ought to make you think twice and keep you entertained.

Property taxes can eat up a big chunk of your income be wary of these 10 states - Luckily California is not on the list thanks to prop 13 which caps property taxes at 1% of purchase price. Another reason to look at homes for sale in Palm Springs CA!

Surely when you retire the tax burden will be at the top of your list. If so check out the best places for low taxes on retirees.

Have a crazy idea that you can deduct something unusual? Check out these 13 crazy tax deductions.

No question about it though home ownership can provide a nice range of tax breaks see this link for a refresher on what they are.

So sharpen that pencil and get ready to crunch the numbers.  Don't forget any improvements you made to your property last year as those can increase your basis in the property.

Dining In Palm Springs

Always interesting to see what the visitors perspective on Palm Springs is! Here is a list of new places to Dine in Palm Springs recommended by the LA area food blog LA eater.

Perhaps we will see some of these fine spots participate in Palm Springs Restaurant week the First week of June. Many area restaurants offer 3 course dinners for special set prices to give you an opportunity to sample all the great choices out there.

Almost as interesting as what is new is what has closed. While many restaurants open and close quickly it is rare to see the really popular places close. The last year or so we have seen some popular establishments close such as The Red Tomato, Hamburger Marys, Lyons, Daveys Hideaway, Acqua Pazza and even the Palm Springs location of California Pizza Kitchen.

Lastly, another interesting thing to watch will be the new hotels that are slated to open soon. What sort of dining options will they offer. Already the Hard Rock hotel has brought in Celebrity Chef Kerry Simon with his Simon Kitchen. Will Palm Springs become another Las Vegas in the dining category with Celebrity Chefs opening up more venues in the area? It will be fun to watch and enjoy all the great eats no matter which way it goes.
