Jazz In The Pines Idyllwild CA

This weekend August 17 and 18, the nearby mountain community of Idyllwild will celebrate the 20th anniversary of this unique event.

Undoubtedly the celebrations will include some relief that the recent fires in the area spared the quaint little town in the pines. The annual event raises funds for the Idyllwild art academy and students from the academy play a part in the event. See the great story about the founding of this event.

The event provides Palm Springs residents the opportunity to take a break from the heat and enjoy some cool Jazz under the pines. The event also includes specialty foods and a 60 vendor arts and crafts market place. Just an hour from Palm Springs or Palm Desert this is a great getaway close to home. At this time tickets are only available at the pharmacy in town or at the door if still available. This years performers include Paul Carman Quartet, Ray Goren Band, Diane Schuur, Tim Weisberg and Friends, Casey Abrahms, Billy Valentine and the Euphoria Brass Band plus many others. Coachella Music and Arts Festival 2 Big Weekends

Festival Expansion: This April will see the festival, for the first time,  expand to two entire three day weekends of Music and events. April 13-15 and 20-22.  Bringing thousands of music lovers to the Coachella Valley the event is a major post season boom to tourism to be sure. Held at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio CA this international musical event has been going on since 2001.

While the majority of the acts tend to be alternative music favorites major headliners have appeared every year at the festival. 2012 will see DR Dre Snoop Dog, Radio Head and The Black Keys.  Past years have seen the likes of Madonna, Paul McCartney and Prince.

Riverside County Fair & Date Festival 2/17-26/12

The 66th Annual Riverside County Fair and International Date Festival returns to the Valley Starting this coming Friday.  This fun event is so varied that anyone could find something to enjoy.

From Camel and Ostrich races - to Live concerts with Major artists - to local variety acts - carnival rides and even a singing competition the variety is fantastic.

Sponsored by the Fantasy Springs Casino the fair is open most days from 10 am til 10 pm. For exact details, tickets and parking instructions visit the fair site.

Major name entertainment scheduled to appear at this time includes LeAnn Rimes, Hot Chelle Rae and Uncle Cracker,

Other entertainment includes a WGAS Demolition Derby, bull riding, Battle Of The Bands  and Super Fiesta concert featuring mariachi music. Last but not least don't forget all the unique foods you can try at the Fair.

So find your way to Indio over the next week and prepare to be surprised at all you can find to do.
