Live In Palm Desert California
When you choose to live in Palm Desert California you'll find that the amazing quality of life is accented by a splendid choice of homes. Many types of neighborhoods make up the city. You will be hard pressed to find a category of home that is not represented in this city.
Big Horn is a perfect example of the variety of homes in Palm Desert. In Big Horn multi million dollar custom homes grace 2 championship courses, one designed by Tom Fazio, in breathtaking South Palm Desert. Yet, almost next door to Bighorn you can find beautiful condos starting at $200,000. Truthfully, this is part of what makes the desert special in that there are wonderful homes for every need. The weekend condos and smaller homes, mid century modern homes, senior communities (like Sun City Palm Desert), gated brand new communities (with or without golf course) even lakefront properties, Tennis Clubs and horse property are all available in Palm Desert. See a list of all neighborhoods in Palm Desert.
While Palm Springs is a treasure trove of 1950’s contemporary architecture many people are surprised to find these fifties homes in South Palm Desert as well. In fact little pockets of the Alexander, Meisselman and Wexler homes are tucked away in the most surprising places. At the same time you can find great neighborhoods like Desert Breezes. This neighborhood is made up of "condos" which are really cute little villas that are totally detached from each other. With nice private walled yards, greenbelts and a terrific clubhouse with workout room and olympic sized pool and Tennis courts. These mediterrean styled villas are a fantastic combination of home and condo giving you the best of both worlds.
One thing that is not immediately apparent to the visitor to Palm Desert, but is very important to who we are, is that we are a destination resort. There is no industry in the valley. No rush hour, no commuting. The “business” of the Coachella valley is fun in the sun. Casinos, golf courses, world class resorts, shopping and dining see to that! Everything is just minutes away and the pace of life is slower. Everyone is here to relax and enjoy the endlessly sunny days.
Palm Desert is broken up into 3 geographical areas referred to as Palm Desert North, Palm Desert East and South Palm Desert. South Palm Desert is almost exclusively residential once you get away from the Highway 111 corridor, while North and East are well planned communities with a mix of uses.
Palm Desert also holds the reputation in the valley of being the most financially sound. It is also home to the new extension of the University of Southern California San Bernardino. As a result of the University project most of the remaining vacant land in North Palm Desert is being totally developed with supporting infrastructure, housing and retail.
The McCallum Theatre, the Living Desert and the two year college of the Desert are also located in Palm Desert. Every Saturday on the grounds of the College of the Desert the Street Fair takes place – it is an open air shopping extravaganza.
