Evening Under The Stars 2012

May 5th is of course Cinco De Mayo - which is very important of course but in Palm Springs it is the equally Important Evening Under the Stars. In its' 19th year this event is the AIDS Assistance Program's annual fundraiser which generates a major portion of their operating budget for the Food Voucher Program.

The event takes place at the O'Donnell Golf Club in Palm Springs, right behind the Hyatt downtown. Not only is it a beautiful setting it is a great central location for such a fun event.

Past years have seen everyone from The B-52's to Barry Manilow and Suzanne Sommers perform but this year Evening Under The Stars will feature the music of the all-female rock band The Go-Go's. The actress, the lovely, Lainie Kazan will act as Mistress of Ceremonies. The menu for the event is being created by Celebrity Chef Susan Feniger.

Dancing, dinner and entertainment under the stars in downtown Palm Springs all for a great cause! How could you not want to go?

Factory Built Green Homes Coming Of Age

At the recent modernism week event in Palm Springs the public was treat to the opportunity to see the first Factory built affordable Green home.

Living home is offering this prototype model of what they can build for about 185K exclusive of the cost of the land. I personally took the tour and was impressed with the fit and finish of the model. It felt very solid - and while not huge - felt open and airy.

These homes are not only Leed certified but can be totally finished on your lot in as little as 8 hours.

As the worlds resources tighten and become more expensive it is easy to see how sustainable building models like this will make big inroads into the marketplace.
