La Quinta California




La Quinta - in Spanish it means Country estate or Inn so perhaps it is fitting that the La Quinta Resort was the impetus for the founding of this town. Originally started in 1926 this resort remains, to this day, one of the most luxurious and exclusive in a Desert that is full of first class resorts. It is easy to see why the resort was founded in this beautiful area the mountain views are easily the best in the Coachella valley.

NEIGHBORHOODS: 
These days one of the largest home communities in La Quinta is PGA West
comprised of six golf courses, clubhouses and many thousands of homes and condos. In fact it is almost impossible to separate La Quinta from golf with the numerous course and golf communities that fill the town.Some of the other communities you will hear about in La Quinta include:

One large area just south of Old Town La Quinta is called La Quinta Cove. An interesting collection of homes dating all the way back to the 1950's. With spectacular mountain views all around this peaceful neighborhood is attractive to year round residents as well as visitors. From modest condos and single family homes all the way up to the luxury golf properties and Country Clubs. Unlike Palm Springs the majority of the homes and condos in La Quinta are newer. The City is well planned and locals will tell you how great the schools are. The corridor along Highway 111 has grown to become a center of commerce for the East valley and national and regional outlets of most every variety are represented here. The Silverrock resort , a 525-acre former working cattle ranch, which is open to the public and slated to become a luxury resort/retail venue. The Arnold Palmer-designed Course is already open and has been a home to the Bob Hope Classic since 2008.


Old Town Area Of La Quinta 


La Quinta has a vibrant "Old Town" with picturesque shops and great dining and every March there is the famous La Quinta Art Fair with celebrated artists from around the world converging on the city. For Art lovers there is also aseasonal art event called Art Under the Umbrellas held in Old Town. Currently the city has a population of about 38,000 people and the median age is about 34.
