La Quinta - in Spanish it means Country estate or Inn so perhaps it is fitting that the La Quinta Resort was the impetus for the founding of this town. Originally started in 1926 this resort remains, to this day, one of the most luxurious and exclusive in a Desert that is full of first class resorts. It is easy to see why the resort was founded in this beautiful area the mountain views are easily the best in the Coachella valley.

For Art lovers there is also aseasonal art event called Art Under the Umbrellas held in Old Town. Currently the city has a population of about 38,000 people and the median age is about 34.
