The tradition of Easter Baskets is said to have started in Germany where the Easter Bunny was called Osterhase and was known to deliver treats to children who would build nests to receive them.
For ancient Egyptians the rabbit was a symbol of the moon so a full moon being used to determine the date of the holiday may have had an influence.
